Super Saturday

Anthropologie Window

A great day... Pix galore on the Flicker site.

Spontaneous Song

Yes, this chorus of voices was going from street corner to street corner and also ended up at Pioneer Square. Their other picture below along with the UPS truck bathed in pink, and the colorful backpack resting on a trash container.

Wednesday Walk

The Band at SW 5th & Oak

The camera definitely enjoyed the walk today. Everyone was out, some of us sang and others of us enjoyed the performance. For the rest of the images from today (shown as a group below), click here.

Rainy Sunday

Definitely a rainy Sunday. After several forays out I decided to stay in with Alison.

Saturday Strangeness

Red hair at Dragonfly... compare this to the Green Room photo, normalcy, I say.

Friday Cats and Birds

Hobbes was napping this afternoon – full on cat nap. And then the Robin Convention came to the neighorhood awakening him. Visions of cat stew danced in his head. If only I would have let him out.

Maneki Neko ~ Japanese Welcome Cat

Hello Kitty on Bicycle

Hmmm, a cut and paste of today's images from Flicker below. I think my favorites are the Gary Fisher bicycle followed closely by the close-up of the Japanese Welcome Cat horn on its handlebar shown above. For better viewing of all the pix go here...

Little Pink Boot

Ah, how long have I seen you? It seems like months. At first you were in front of the laundromat. But then it went out of business. And now you're hanging from a tree. Today, I thought someone had taken you down. Maybe to return you to your mate. Wherever it is. For now though you're still dangling. A pink beacon on NW Thurman.

Wednesday ~ Poetry and Photo

Phosphorescence
-Ralph Angel

Only when I looked away did I wear
a woolen cap and winter coat to confuse myself
and give in to the rot and the decay
of months and days of rain and mud seeping
through the windows,
and didn't I dream as always
the most northern
of the islands and of their
phosphorescence,
and wasn't it the one cold day
I could not remember that threw me
from behind the bar repeated sideways glances
and though the news was sad
I just had to laugh, having
read the book.

Corona Extra ~ Neon

You have to love the palm tree and parrot when it's less than 40 degrees in Portland and the wind is blowing from the snow on Mt. Hood to the east.

Living Room Theater

We ended up seeing North by Northwest today at Living Room Theater. It was raining and I was late so there are no photos of the Theater there near Burnside and Powell's. But here's an abstract taken while watching Ted before the movie started. Who could resist Alfred Hitchcock, Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint on a rainy day? Not us. Plus we were able to enjoy salads. Other photos here.

Random Images on a Rainy Day

A rainy, wet, damp day here in Portland that ended with this little bit of sunshine in a storefront window on NW Thurman near 24th. Like the Chinese dogs who were his ancestors this guy is the companion for the proprietors of Acanthus, our local upholstery shop. The dog probably has many stories to tell, some of them may be as interesting as the one that lies behind the image below.

Amy Gray and I came across these little protective devices on our walk downtown this morning. Size large (in fact, click the image and it will expand), Trojan Magnums, you have to wonder what happened to the third one in the package. Someone could write the story, the script. The plot would probably be somewhere between the tale of the two who used Amy's side yard for their rendezvous and Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche in Damage. Damage is the Louis Malle movie from 1992. Let's just say if Irons had been using condoms, Malle would have had more than one box of them.

Waiting Outside of Starbucks

Starbucks - Corner of NW 23rd and Overton - Portland, Oregon

Italian Delights in Portland

The day after New Year's and all was quiet in downtown Portland, including Martinottis, an Italian cafe and delicatessen - also wine merchants.
